CAPTAIN SIMON STARKILLER.

REAL NAME: Tom (Full name unknown)

JOB: Captain, obviously.

AGE: 49.

YEARS IN SPACE: 31.

The Captain's thirst for adventure has been behind all the decisions he's ever made. As a young man, he signed up for the Intergalactic Space Army and did three tours policing shipping routes, protecting colonization operations, and secretly hoping to encounter alien life. Upon leaving the military, Cap reinvented himself as Simon Starkiller and signed up with the Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18, quickly rising to the rank of captain due to his military background. For the company, he has overseen several research and resource acquisition vessels, secretly hoping to encounter alien life. Resource Acquisition Vessel 1019 is his most challenging command. Heading up a skeleton crew charged with deep space resource retrieval, he spends even more time in the vast reaches of space than ever, all still secretly hoping aliens are out there, just beyond the edge of the map.

Having spent most of his life in space now, The Captain has gone a little crazy. As he has not discovered the adventure he has craved since he was a child, he has begun to daydream about what could have been with increasing frequency. While he is still an exemplary officer when the chips are down, the chips are rarely down when trawling the edges of known space for minerals and precious metals, leading his mind to wander to more exciting places.

But whether daydreaming or focused, The Captain's endless enthusiasm usually keeps him in good spirits. He's a positive, outgoing personality, always eager for the next challenge. He is intensely loyal to The Amazing Space Aces multimedia entertainment property, and to his stuffed animal, Crewman Bear.

ALEXA ADAMS

JOB: Crew Manager.

AGE: 35.

YEARS IN SPACE: 15.

Alexa got into the not-so-rewarding field of managing an eclectic group of people in a small space for months on end right out of college. Always calm, efficient, and eager to solve problems, some form of management position was an inevitable part of her future. But on this ship, she may as well be the captain some days. That's alright, though. She enjoys the challenges.

Alexa had a mind for organization and order from a young age. An only child, she spent her young days days organizing her collections of dolls and toy animals and trying to build perfectly stable houses with blocks. Her first job with the company was as a mid-level manager on a space station. She was eager to take her current position four years later, ready for a new set of challenges. She is not without a sense of humor, but feels that there is a time and place for everything. She has ever striven for perfection and efficiency, and often gets so wrapped up in her goals that she forgets to relax. Alexa can seem hard on her charges, especially Mike, but only because she cares about them and wants to see them all succeed. She is trying to loosen up... meticulously and efficiently.

ANTHONY ARCHER

JOB: Pilot.

AGE: 32.

YEARS IN SPACE: 12.

Outgoing, laid back, just about unflappable, Anthony is the kind of guy that makes everyone feel like his best friend. He is an excellent pilot and dedicated worker, but doesn't have the ego to go with his achievements. Resource Vessel 1019 is his second assignment.

Anthony dreamed of being a pilot his whole life. Anything that could fly fascinated him, be it birds, kites, planes or rocket ships. He excelled in school and in his training and went straight to work with The Company upon getting his license. After several years as the co-pilot on a deep space cargo vessel, he was promoted to piloting his own ship. Working under such an eccentric captain gives him a lot of freedom to do things his way, which he appreciates. Anthony's younger sister, Amanda, is also a pilot for The Company. His enthusiasm wore off on her as a child, and she has followed in his footsteps.

Anthony sees a lot of his sister in Phoebe, so they have formed a good bond. He was also the first to really warm up to Mike on his arrival in the crew's life. He's taken a liking to Cecelia, and is waiting for the time to make his move.

PHOEBE PIERCE

JOB: Comminucations Officer (Bridge).

AGE: 26.

YEARS IN SPACE: 7.

Phoebe's unwavering positive attitude belies a dedicated work ethic and mastery of her field. She may seem like she's just happy to be there, but she's having fun because she gets all her work done immediately and ends up with a lot of free time.

Phoebe was, unsurprisingly, a carefree child fascinated by unicorns and puppies. That sense of whimsy never really left her. When Phoebe got to college, she went to a job fair where she was convinced a career in communications for a big company like Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18 sounded like a good idea because she loved to talk to people. Perhaps a dubious entry into a career, but she took to it instantly, and became very interested in emerging technologies in her newly chosen field. Phoebe is well-liked by almost everyone she meets, but most people aren't sure they understand her.

Phoebe's best friend on the crew is Summer, and she sees Anthony as a sort of big brother figure. The Captain's weird flights of fancy amuse her more than everyone else. She kind of relates.

GALE GARRISON

JOB: Mechanic.

AGE: 42.

YEARS IN SPACE: 24.

Gale has spent his whole life taking things apart and putting them back together. Toys, appliances, whole cars, no project was too big or too small as long as he got to figure out how things worked. He puts this passion to work as a mechanic and mechanical operator in the production crew.

The first practical use for his curiosity came in a tour of duty in the space-motorpool of the Intergalactic Space Army. Once out of the military, he worked a few different jobs and even raced in the rocket races for awhile before getting a more secure job with The Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18. Although he has been eligible for promotion several times since joining the company, he chooses to remain a mechanic. It's what he loves.

Gale's laid back nature makes him easy to get along with. He is a man of few words, but those words tend to be informative or entertaining. He's been seeing Lucy back at the space station for seven years. He bonded with The Captain over their military history, and is the last person on the crew to get exasperated by Cap's flights of fancy.

TIN TRINH

JOB: Mechanic

AGE: 34.

YEARS IN SPACE: 11.

Tin is technically a mechanic on the crew, where his interest in electronics makes him a prime asset, but he has been eager to expand into an official science career in recent years. He was on track to become a research scientist, but took a job with The Company for what he thought would be a year or two of practical experience and is still out in space. For Tin, being on a spaceship crew is a job rather than an adventure.

Tin was never sure what he wanted to do. He loves building things, he loves figuring out how things work, he loves trying to understand the universe around him, but he never settled on how to turn his interests into a career. He was working as a mechanic would going to college to become a proper scientist when he joined The Company. He thought a year off to learn some new mechanical systems and sample the bureaucracy of a big corporation would help him. But the work was easy, sometimes interesting, and the pay is good, and he's still out there.

Space isn't the adventure some of the other see it as for Tin. He's content to just do his work as if it were any other job. He's gotten into helping Summer with science recently, though, thinking again about his career. He can be kind of impatient, but he's a good guy at heart.

SUMMER STREET

JOB: Science Officer.

AGE: 28.

YEARS IN SPACE: 4.

Summer always thought science should be exciting. As she came to understand that most people thought the practice of understanding how everything works was boring, she became more and more determined to do big, exciting things in the field, to try and give it some glamor. Obviously, things haven't worked out yet.

Summer was always a bright kid, hungry for knowledge. Her powerful imagination turned all the things she learned about history and the workings of the universe into grand adventures. Working in space was an early goal. No matter how mundane things got on Earth, there was always a sense of mystery to working in space. After completing her time as a talented student who missed a lot of class, Summer did a little work for a few different firms before winding up with The Company.

Summer has only been with the crew of Resource Acquisition Vessel 1019 for a little over a year. The abrupt departure of their previous science officer offered her her first chance to work on a ship instead of on a station, and she jumped at the chance. She stands apart from the others to different degrees, not really feeling like she fits in, but always hiding behind a wall of bluster and attitude. Phoebe is the only one she feels especially comfortable with. The introduction of the BACPACIOT-01 robot into her life has given her a new best friend.

MIKE MATTHEWS

JOB: Communications Officer (General).

AGE: 27.

YEARS IN SPACE: 0.75.

Mike never knew what he was going to do with his life, but if you told him he'd end up working on a spaceship, he never would have believed you. He's drifted from job to job, never quite sure what he wanted to do. Now he's just trying to keep his head above water while adjusting to a career he knows little about.

Mike had a pretty ordinary, unremarkable youth. The youngest of two brothers, he did ok in school, never really knew what he wanted to do, and drifted from job to job hoping to find that spark of inspiration. One day, he went to purcahse a soda and found the label promised he could "Win a trip to space!" "I like space," he thought, and so he bought it. He was shocked when he twisted off the cap and found he'd won. He was even more shocked when he learned the terms of the contest: A year in space with a vessel in the Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18. Not really having anything else to do for a year, he accepted, and a few months later, he was on 1019, realizing it was not quite the vacation he expected. Now that Mike has secured full-time employment aboard the ship (Almost entirely due to Alexa's influence behind the scenes), he's trying to adjust to life as a spaceman. He still hasn't managed to notify his family or friends that his space vacation has become permanent, but he'll figure out how to bring it up one day.

Mike has mellowed out a lot since he first got to the ship. He wasn't sure what to expect from space life, but it sure wasn't The Captain or Summer. Phoebe's naturally out-going nature made her the first person he felt comfortable around, and he and Anthony eventually became good friends. Now he mostly gets along with everyone. Summer still confuses him the most.

CECILIA CRUZ

JOB: Mechanic

AGE: 33.

YEARS IN SPACE: 11.

The newest member of the crew is one of the most experienced. Cecelia has been working in the space exploration industry for many years, and brings fresh eyes to the daily problems of the crew.

Cecelia is the middle child of three sisters. Her older sister dreamed of being a famous actress, while her younger sister wanted to be a reporter, but Cecelia always took after her mechanic father, with a mind for taking things apart and putting them back together. After school, she worked for a few different companies before finding her way to the Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18. She's moved up the ranks quickly, and will probably be offered the chance to move into management soon if she wants to.

This is Cecelia's 3rd ship assignment. She has also spent some time working on space stations. She brings a wealth of experience to her new crew, but has never worked with such an odd assortment of people. She's bonded with the more low-key Gale pretty quickly, but still feels a bit apart from most of her teammates.

PAC

FULL NAME: BACPACIOT-01

JOB: Experimental Helper Robot

AGE: About 1.

YEARS IN SPACE: 0.75

PAC is an experimental new type of helper robot. Designed internally by the Express Cargo Company, LLC, NBP, X5-18, he is the first robot of his kind and class to walk on two legs, and has the widest range of hand movement yet achieved in robotics. His primary objectives are diagnosis and repair of mechanical problems. His biggest innovation is being able to retract into a back pack configuration that doubles as life support for a space suit, allowing crewmen to use the robot's expertise even on spacewalks while traveling light. If he is deemed a success, The Company hopes to position BACPACIOT-01 as the ultimate robot for spaceship crews. More attention could perhaps have been paid to his language center, however.

PAC is very smart, and learning rapidly by exposure to people. He is programmed with many languages, but for reasons known only to his designer, can only communicate with a single syllable beep. He can modulate its pitch and speed to try to get his point across, but for the most part, remains very frustrated in his attempts to communicate with his crew. He is eager to please and enjoys working, though most of his time is spent just following Summer around as her sidekick since there's not much to be repaired on a normal day.

Summer is PAC's defacto owner on the ship and PAC has developed a lot of affection for her. In spite of their intitial friction, he also relates to Mike, since they joined the crew at the same time (although PAC wasn't first activated until Mike had been around for a few months). When he has a moment to himself, PAC likes to learn more about people, history, society... anything he can to better understand this crewmates.
